Install the Power Supply

 
At this stage of the build, you are ready to supply power to the Motherboard, CPU, and the Graphics Card.
 
Take a close look at your Motherboard.
 
On the top edge there are 2 CPU Power Connectors.
 
One is a 4-Pin Connector labeled EATX12V_2
 
The other is an 8-Pin Connector labeled EATX12V_1
 
You need to supply power to both these connectors.
 
On the right edge, you will find the large 24-Pin Motherboard Power Connector.
 
 
These 3 connections are critical!
 
You must make all 3 connections before powering on the system for the first time.
 
Examine the back of your Graphics Card.
 
It has a 6-Pin PCI-E Power Connector.
 
 
You will need the following 4 modular Power Cables to power your Motherboard, CPU and Graphics Card:
 
 
 
 
Here is how you should connect the 4 modular Power Cables.
 
Connect the Motherboard Power Cable to the 2 slots marked in orange.
 
All connectors are keyed. They can only be inserted one way.
 
 
 
 
Next, connect the 2 CPU Power Cables into the 2 slots marked green.
 
 
The CPU Power Cables have one side marked PSU.
This end goes into the Power Supply Unit.
 
The other end is marked CPU.
 
One cable has an 8-Pin Connector.
 
The second cable has two 4-Pin Connectors.
 
 
The 8-Pin connector goes into the 8-Pin CPU Power header on the Motherboard.
 
The 4-Pin connector goes into the 4-Pin CPU Power header on the Motherboard.
 
Remember, you must connect both CPU Power headers.
The 4-Pin connector provides additional auxiliary power.
 
This is how the Motherboard Power Cable, and the 2 CPU Power Cables should be attached to the Power Supply Unit.
 
 
You are almost done.
 
You need to connect a PCI-E Power Cable in the slot marked red.
This will supply power to your Graphics Card.
 
The PCI-E Power Cables are marked with a PSU label on one end.
This end connects to the Power Supply Unit.
All modular cables are keyed. They can only be inserted one way.
 
 
 The other end is marked with a PCI-E label.
 
It has a 6-Pin Connector and a 2-Pin Connector.
 
This makes them capable of supplying additional power to demanding graphics cards that require an 8-Pin Connector.
 
 
This is how your 4 modular power cables should be connected to the PSU.
